CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

This is an announcement for submission of abstracts for the 3rd National AIDS Conference 2008 with the theme -“TOWARDS UNIVERSAL ACCESS” that is being organized in Kathmandu from July 4- 7, 2008.

There will be four tracks selected for parallel presentation. The details of the tracks are given below: 
Track A:            Policy and Leadership in Action
Track B:            Prevention, Epidemiology and Monitoring
Track C:           Treatment, Care and Support
Track D:           Social, Behavioral and Economics
In addition, there will also be cross cutting issues for presentation.

This call for abstracts invites all interested persons/organizations to kindly prepare and submit abstracts under the tracks mentioned above. The details of the abstracts guidelines, submission and selection criteria are provided below: 

  1. The abstract should address one of the tracks mentioned above. Please choose the track which best describes the subject of your abstract. If it is a cross-cutting theme, mention “cross-cutting” under “Track” in the abstract form.
  2. The text of the abstract should not exceed 250 words (in Times New Roman font size 11pts).
  3. The abstracts should be submitted in the prescribed abstract form provided. Abstracts can be submitted both in English and Nepali languages.
  4. The deadline for abstract submission is June 7th, 2008.

  6. Abstracts may also be sent by mail or hand delivered to Abstract Committee, 3rd National AIDS Conference, HIV, AIDS and STI Control Board, NCASC White Building, Teku, Kathmandu. Abstracts sent by these modes need to be signed by the presenter.
  7. The abstract should cover the following:
    1. Background:  general introduction and the study objectives, the hypothesis tested, or a thorough  description of the problem/issue;
    2. Methods: materials and methods used to collect information, analysis of issues, use of statistical  procedure and/or the  specific statistical packages(software), if used in analysis, approach and intervention;
    3. Results: specific results, discussion, and conclusion(s) drawn, summarize the main outcome.

  8. This guideline and abstract form will be available at Conference website (www.thirdnepalaidsconference.com.np) which will be functional after May 15th, 2008. You can also choose to submit your abstract directly to the website.
  9. Your abstract, if accepted, will appear in its full form in the abstract book.
  10. Please ensure that your abstract is as error free as possible.
  11. An independent review panel will review the abstracts for selection. The committee reserves all rights to assign any accepted abstract for oral or poster presentation. The committee also reserves the right for rejection of any submitted abstract.
  12. Notification of acceptance or rejection will be sent to the corresponding author by June 15th by mail.
  13. The organizing committee will not be responsible for scholarships even to participants with accepted abstracts. He/she is advised to make his/her own financial coverage for participation. Prospective agencies that may provide scholarships are FHI, UNAIDS, UNDP, WHO, CARE Nepal, SAVE, Action AID and HIV related networks.
